When my daughter Danielle crafted this website (https://www.dalitopia.com/en/) I had a section offering to do portraits and pets on commission. But then I had a moment of clarity and decided I did not want to do commercial pieces of art where I would have to shift colors, or make their puppy look better or could I make their smile better?
But now I have people coming to me asking me to do artwork on commission! One part of me just wants to just do it my way and tell them that’s the deal. My way or the highway. The other part says no, I need to listen to them because they are “customers.” I need to be nice. Ha!
So what do you think is the correct way for an artist to handle commissioned work?
